This light, refreshing salad dressing is perfect for drizzling over the salad of your choice. It adds a pop of fresh, tangy citrus flavor that you’ll adore! Here are a few more reasons to love this Greek salad dressing recipe:

    • Simple ingredients. This Greek salad dressing is so easy – all you need are a few ingredients and a mason jar or a bowl and a whisk, which makes for a very quick clean-up.
    • Adaptable. With this dressing, you have control over the ingredients. If, for example, you don’t feel like adding as much vinegar as the recipe calls for, that’s no problem! Adjust as you go to get the perfect taste.

    What Is Greek Salad Dressing?

Greek salad dressing is a traditional, tangy, oil-based dressing used within Greek cuisine. Add in acidity from the vinegar and lemon juice, plus the greek seasoning, and you will get the classic taste it is known for.

After you taste this dressing and find out how fabulous it is, you will be happy to know that it isn’t exclusively used on salads. You can add it to a number of your favorite Mediterranean dishes as well! It makes a tasty marinade for chicken or a delicious sauce to drizzle over grilled or roasted vegetables.

    Recipe Ingredients

This dressing is made with 5 simple ingredients. The Dijon mustard is the secret ingredient in this recipe that gives this dressing its depth of flavor. When it is combined with the olive oil and vinegar, it makes the perfect base to add the Greek seasoning to!

Here’s what you’ll need – note that you can find the precise quantities for each ingredient in the recipe card below!

    • Olive Oil – I like to use extra virgin olive oil, but you can use whichever kind/brand you like. The higher the quality of the olive oil, though, the better the overall taste.
    • Greek Seasoning – If there’s a store-bought variety that you like, that works, but if you have time, definitely try this Homemade Greek Seasoning!
    • Red Wine Vinegar – This really adds to the tanginess of the dressing. You could try substituting with white wine vinegar, but this will slightly change the flavor and appearance of the dressing.
    • Lemon Juice – Freshly-squeezed lemon juice provides the boldest flavor.
    • Dijon Mustard – I don’t recommend substituting other mustards here – dijon has a very unique flavor.

How to Make Greek Salad Dressing

There is more than one way to make this Greek salad dressing, and they are all quick and easy. Here’s my preferred method (for the full, concise directions, scroll on down to the recipe card below!):

    • Combine all of the ingredients in a jar with a tight-fitting lid. I like to use a mason jar, but other sealed jars will work too, as long as they can hold 8 ounces so that there is room to mix the ingredients.
    • Shake vigorously until everything is well blended. Then, give the dressing a taste to see if you want to adjust the seasoning.

    Tips & Recipe Variations

As you can see, homemade Greek dressing could not be simpler to make. There are basically two steps and then you’re done! That said, I do have just a few more quick tips to share with you:

    • You don’t have to shake the ingredients in a jar to combine them. Instead of shaking a jar, you can whisk all of the ingredients together in a bowl, use a blender, or even process them with a small food processor, if you like.
    • Make the dressing creamy. If you’d prefer a creamier Greek dressing, add a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt in (start sparingly, and then add more if desired).
    • Add honey. This is completely optional, but a touch of sweet honey can balance the dressing if the tangy flavors from the lemon juice and the red wine vinegar become too strong.

    How to Use Greek Dressing

This dressing isn’t only used as the finishing touch on a Greek salad. It can be incorporated into so many other dishes. Here are just a few suggestions:

    • Use it as a marinade. This dressing would be great as a marinade for grilled/roasted vegetables or something like these Chicken Kabobs.
    • Make a pasta salad. Toss a little Greek dressing on some freshly cooked pasta with veggies for an easy pasta salad.
    • Serve it as a bread dip. Slice up some crusty bread and dip it in a shallow bowl of this dressing!
    • Use it in other salad-like meals. Drizzle this dressing over a grain bowl for extra flavor, or over a prepared antipasto salad.

How to Store Homemade Salad Dressing

Store leftover Greek salad dressing in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week. When you are ready to use it again, gently shake the jar to mix any ingredients that have settled, and pour it over your salad or use as desired. Enjoy!
