Materials
- H/5 mm crochet hook
- Worsted weight cotton yarn. I used Lily Sugar N Cream in Seabreeze (2), Ecru (2), Sunshine (1) and White (1)
- Tapestry needle
- Locking stitch markers
- Scissors

Gauge is not important for this pattern.
Finished Size
14 inches wide by 13 inches long
Strap height is 17 inches
Important Notes
- Bag is worked in the round.
- Strap is worked in rows.
- Joins are made with a slip stitch.
- Colors changes are made when joining.
- Fasten off old color during color changes or carry the yarn up.
- Work first stitch(es) of each round in same stitch you joined to.
- The single crochet that comes after the bobble stitch should be made behind the bobble stitch so that the bobble pops out on the right side.
- The first star stitch of each round begins in the middle of the beginning ch 3.
- The hdc2tog at the end of the star stitch rounds will prevent you from having a hole between your last star stitch and last stitch of the round.

Crochet Stitches
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Firstly, yarn over & insert hook in next stitch.
- Then, yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on your hook.
- Lastly, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on your hook.
Half Double Crochet Decrease (hdc2tog)
- Yarn over & insert hook in next stitch.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 3 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over & insert hook in next stitch.
- Yarn over and pull up another loop. You will have 5 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on your hook.
Single Crochet (sc)
- Insert hook in next stitch.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 2 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through both loops.
Star Stitch (ss)
- Insert hook in next stitch
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. You will have 2 loops on your hook.
- Repeat step 2 four times. You will have 6 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.
- Ch 1 and insert hook in that ch.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop.
- Insert hook in the side of last star stitch
- Yarn over and pull up a loop
- Insert hook in chain at base of last star stitch
- Yarn over and pull up a loop
- Insert hook in next ch
- Yarn over and pull up a loop
- Repeat steps 11 & 12. You will have 6 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops, ch 1
Bobble Stitch (bo)
- Yarn over and insert hook in next stitch
- Yarn over and pull up a loop
- Yarn over and pull through 2 loops
- Repeat steps 2 & 3 four times in the same stitch. You will have 6 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops
Crochet Market Bag Pattern
Note: The first star stitch of each round begins in the middle of the beginning ch 3.
Round 1 of Bag Bottom
Use Seabreeze yarn for rounds 1-6.
Ch 52, 2 hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook, 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in each of the next 46 chs, 2 hdc in each of the last two chs, you are now going to continue working in the backside of the chains, 2 hdc in each of the next two chs, hdc in each of the next 46 chs, 2 hdc in each of the last two chs, join (108 stitches)
Round 2 of Bag Bottom
Ch 2, 2 hdc in each of the first two sts, hdc in each of the next 50 sts, 2 hdc in each of the next four sts, hdc in each of the next 50 sts, 2 hdc in each of the last two stitches, join (116 stitches)
Round 3 of Bag Bottom
Ch 2, 2 hdc in each of the first two sts, hdc in each of the next 54 sts, 2 hdc in each of the next four sts, hdc in each of the next 54 sts, 2 hdc in each of the last two stitches, join (124 stitches)
Bag Top
Rnds 4-6: ch 2, hdc in each stitch, join (124 stitches)
Switch to Ecru yarn for rounds 7-9.
Rnd 7: ch 2, *hdc, ch-1, skip a st*, join to the first ch-1 space (62 ch-1 spaces)
Rnd 8: ch 1, 2 sc in each ch-1 sp, join (124 stitches)
Rnd 9: ch 2, hdc in each st, join (124 stitches)
Switch to Sunshine yarn for rounds 10-12.
Rnd 10: ch 3, ss around (see special stitches), when you get to the last st y/o insert your hook into the same st as the last spike of the last star and pull up a lp, y/o and insert your hook into the last st of the rnd and pull up a lp, y/o and pull through all five lps (hdc2tog made), hdc in the top of the ch-3 sp, join (61 ss, 2 hdc)
Rnd 11: ch 2, 2 hdc in the eye of each star, hdc once in each of the last 2 sts, join (124 hdc)
Rnd 12: ch 1, sc in each st around, join [124 sc]
Switch to White yarn for round 13-15.
Rnd 13: ch 2, hdc in each st, join (124 hdc)

Straps
Use Ecru yarn.
Begin where you left off for round 37.
Row 1: ch 1, sc 18, turn (18 stitches)
Row 2: ch 1, sc2tog, sc 14, sc2tog, turn (16 stitches)
Row 3: ch 1, sc2tog, sc 12, sc2tog, turn (14 stitches)
Rows 4-127: ch 1, sc in each st, fasten off (14 stitches)
On the bag, skip over 44 sts and join yarn. Repeats rows 1-3 on the opposite side of the bag.
Line up the stitches and sew them together.
