9 Perfect Christmas Drink Recipes – Dan330 (1)

Christmas is coming, and many people are already doing their shopping and wrapping ready for the big day. But have you thought about what you’re going to drink over the festive period? Christmas is a great excuse to have some indulgent drinks and get merry. The following 9 drinks are perfect for spreading Christmas cheer:

Mulled Wine

Mulled wine is a classic Christmas drink, and is delicious when served hot. It’s spicy and sweet, perfect for people who love the taste of Christmas. You’ll need:

  • 2 Oranges.
  • 2 bottles of red and 1 bottle of white.
  • Thinly sliced piece of ginger.
  • 3 cinnamon sticks.
  • Half a teaspoon of ground cloves.
  • Demerara sugar, as you like it.
  • 4 tablespoons of brandy, if you like.
  • Juice your oranges after removing the pith.
  • Pour all of the wine into a pot and add your orange juice. Now add the leftover pith, ginger, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and sugar. Stir in well.
  • Cover this over and heat on a medium heat until it’s hot enough, but make sure you don’t boil it. You can now put on a low heat and leave for 1 hour so the flavours all meld in together.
  • Strain this and serve hot! You can add more sugar and some brandy if you like now too.

Angel’s Kiss

This drink is a perfect after dinner delight, especially next to a few Christmas chocolates. You’ll need:

  • Cocoa powder for dusting.
  • 250ml double cream.
  • Chilled Tia Maria, about 400ml.
  • Pour your Tia Maria into co*cktail glasses.
  • Now the fun part! Pour the cream into the glasses by doing it over the back of a teaspoon. This should make the cream float to the top and make another layer.
  • Dust over your cocoa powder and you’re ready to serve!

Mulled Apple Juice

Mulled apple juice is a wonderful, non alcoholic alternative to mulled wine. You’ll need:

  • 1.5 litres of apple juice.
  • 4 tbsp of maple syrup.
  • 2 cinnamon sticks.
  • 6 cloves.
  • 6 allspice berries.
  • The peel of an orange and a lemon, cut into thin strips.
  • Start by pouring your apple juice and syrup into a saucepan.
  • Add your cinnamon sticks, cloves, berries, and the fruit peel in a spice bag, secured with some string. You can then drop this in the juice.
  • Heat this on medium for up to 10 minutes or until the mixture is hot. Never boil.
  • Take off the heat and get rid of your spice bag. You can now pour your cider into cups, with another cinnamon stick to garnish if you like.

Raspberry Martini Fizz

This co*cktail is delicious and trendy, perfect for impressing your guests. It’s one of my favourite recipes! You’ll need:

  • 150ml of gin.
  • 350 ml of martini rosso.
  • 4 teaspoons of icing sugar.
  • 24 frozen raspberries.
  • 2 bottles of chilled prosecco or a sparkling wine of your choice.
  • Mix your martini and gin and pop in the fridge. You may also like to chill your glasses so the finished product is lovely and cold.
  • Spoon half a teaspoon of icing sugar into each champagne glass. Pour in your martini mix, and then add the frozen raspberries.
  • Top this up with your prosecco before you serve.

Eggnog

Eggnog is a delicious creamy Christmas tradition. You’ll need:

  • A litre of milk.
  • 475 ml of double cream.
  • 12 egg yolks.
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
  • 475 ml of whisky.
  • 12 egg whites.
  • 200g of caster sugar.
  • A small amount of ground up nutmeg.
  • Using a hand mixer and a big bowl, whisk up your milk, cream, yolks, vanilla, and whisky. It should get smooth and creamy.
  • In another bowl, whip your whites until you get those soft peaks. Sprinkle in sugar slowly while you continue to whip until the mixture is stiff.
  • Fold your whites into the yolk mixture, and pour into a big pitcher.
  • Garnish with your nutmeg. You can serve in mugs or cups.

Christmas Cosmo

Ginger and cranberry taste great together at Christmas time! You’ll need:

  • 500ml of vodka.
  • 500ml of a ginger wine.
  • A litre of cranberry juice.
  • The juice of 5 limes and the zest set aside.
  • 1 sliced stem of ginger.
  • Simply mix your vodka and ginger wine in a jug.
  • Add the cranberry juice, lime juice, and the sliced stem ginger.
  • Decorate with the lime zest you set aside!

Summer in Winter

This fizzy drink smells and tastes delicious. It’s so simple too! You’ll need:

  • A 75cl of white wine. It should be dry and fizzy.
  • 125ml of elderflower liqueur.
  • 500ml of bitter lemon juice.
  • Fresh mint.
  • Simple mix all of this together in a jug and serve in champagne glasses. Chill the glasses and ingredients to make it extra cold.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Everybody loves hot chocolate, but the peppermint gives this delicious drink a Christmas update. You’ll need:

  • 200g of chocolate broken into pieces.
  • 600 ml of milk.
  • 150 ml of single cream (you can use double if you prefer).
  • Sugar.
  • Peppermint candy canes for serving.
  • Place your chocolate and milk in a pan and heat it gently until melted. Continue stirring and heating until the milk is steaming, and then take off the heat. Stir in your cream.
  • Pour your chocolate into mugs, and add sugar as you like it. Decorate by hanging a candy cane on the side of the cup. Tell everybody to stir their drink with the candy cane, adding as much of the peppermint taste as they like!

Lemon and Elderflower Fizz

This co*cktail is full of tanginess and zest. You’ll need:

  • The juice of half a lemon.
  • 75ml of gin.
  • 2 teaspoons of caster sugar.
  • 50 ml of elderflower cordial.
  • 750 ml of prosecco.
  • 4 tablespoons of lemon sorbet.
  • Decorate your glasses by pouring the sugar on to a plate, and the lemon juice in a bowl. First place the rim of the glass in the juice, then in the sugar.
  • Pour the lemon juice, sugar, and elderflower cordial into a jug.
  • Stir up until the sugar has dissolved. You can then add the sorbet and prosecco and stir it up.
  • Pour into your glasses and decorate further with lemon zest, if you wish.

Have a very merry Christmas!
